Anandabazar Patrika is one of the most popular daily newspapers in India. It is published by Ananda Publishers Pvt. Ltd. The headquarter of the Anandabazar Patrika Group is situated in Kolkata, which also houses its printing presses and processing units. A total of 30 editions are published across India on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. Note: The issue of Anandabazar Patrika Bengali edition dated on 21 December 1993 is not published by the Ananda Publishers Pvt. Ltd. It has been published by another group which is another publisher under the headquarter of Ananda Publishers Pvt. Ltd. In the beginning, the Patrika's name derived from an English phrase "Baghbandar Patrika". It was the first Bengali newspaper of Calcutta after the publication of "Bhabani Patrika" in 1828, which itself derived its name from the name of Ananda Mohan Bhattacharya, co-founder of the newspaper. It was started with initial capital of Rs. 30,000 by two young men, Dewan Bahadur Ramesh Chandra Ghosh (1810–1869) and Tufail Ali (died 1871), who had worked on "Bhabani Patrika". They opened their office on 1 April 1833 near Chowringhee Square in Kolkata. The office functioned under its first editor Nityakant Shukla (1809–1862). It became the second oldest surviving Bengali newspaper in India after "Syampukur Zamindar". Later its name was changed to "Anandabazar Patrika". The motto of the paper was initially "Truth alone triumphs", which is also the motto of Ananda Publishers Pvt. Ltd. but later they changed it to "Service is our Mission". In 1845 Tufail Ali left it for some time due to some disagreement with his partner Ramesh Chandra Ghosh. After his return, Ramesh Chandra Ghosh bought off Tufail's share in the company. It was first printed at Masjid Street, Kolkata. Later on its office was shifted to Narkeldanga Main Road, Kolkata. Its office remains at the same place till now. cfa1e77820
